What is now known as The Heartland Sauce was the sauce that we grew up with and served on our meats, before barbecue became the rage.
This sauce recaptured the honest and long forgotten flavors of the early 1900s. Barn raisings. Chautauquas. Church potlucks. Thrasher’s breakfast. And long days in the fields and orchards of a still young America that produced the most extraordinary recipes.
