Product Description
Michael Bladow was first introduced to ceramics in 1973 at The College of Lake County in Grays Lake Illinois. Studying under ceramic instructor Tony Holmes, he develop his interest in high fire wood ash glazes and Raku pottery. In 1977 Michael graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree, emphasis in ceramics and drawing. After teaching Art for 7 years in Illinois, Michael was awarded an Art Assistantship at Northern Michigan University. While at Northern, Michael worked as a teaching assistant in the ceramic department while pursuing his Master of Arts degree.
In 1986, Michael moved his family to south east Michigan and began teaching Art in the East China School District. He obtained his Master of Arts degree from Wayne State University in Detroit and continues to teach Art and coach at Marine City High School.
Michael resides in Kimball township with Kathy his wife of 26 years and their four children. He is currently showing his work at Studio 1219 in Port Huron and in summer art fairs throughout Michigan.
